New animation looks more stiff, but is more clean. Old animation is smoother, but is more crudely drawn...

Eh, I prefer the old one. New one is too stilted.

It looks like this show pulled an "Arthur" when it comes to animation style

I don't usually judge animation, but here it really shows that tweening doesn't fix everything. The old one is traditionally drawn yet it is full of spirit and energy, the new one, as clean as it looks, doesn't have these symptoms.

The flash animation did make the show LOOK better, but the animation is definitely of lower quality.

"2015-11-09 Present"
Wait, this show's still going on? 😮

Old one is better, but I love how almost nothing changed except for it's modernization. It was clean.

Like many people said, the use of Flash here isn't done well nor does it even try to match the original point for point. It looks so slow and it's sucks out some of the character of the original. Biggest examples include when Hacker's ship is following them, the part where all three are "face to face" with him, and the very end where they don't even bother with the perspective

This and Arthur are the worst examples of PBS changing the animation studio for a show. Arthur's changing studios AGAIN for the 20th season, hopefully it looks better than seasons 16-19

I’ve watched this several times and only just noticed the difference in emotion at 0:19. In the newer one the kids just look kind of annoyed, but in the original they were ready to throw hands!

When the ships were flying through space, the old version felt faster as if Hacker was serious about chasing the kids. The new version feels less intense due to how slow it appears. I know that part is a couple seconds long, but I can't help but notice it.

The old one is vastly superior in like, literally every single aspect. The new one just looks like one of those weird motion tweening animation memes.

The ONLY thing I genuinely want to commend them for: The level of detail in recreating this is genuinely impressive as hell, even if it isn't as 'good'. Still impressive tbh.

New one's looking a little too CGI for my taste, anyone else

0:15 is it just me or does the new intro make the characters run off screen WAY faster and less natural than the old one?

As someone studying animation in college rn, the timing of the kids spotting the laser beam, pointing, and then moving to intercept it is waaay off in the new version ( 0:04 - 0:09 ). In the old one, the camera stays on the kids long enough for you to see them react, point at the beam in a 'quickly, over there!!' sort of way, and then for the ship to move to stop it. In the new one, the camera moves away waaaay too quickly to be able to tell what's happening, so all you really see is Hacker firing the beam, and then the ship getting in the way of it. You only know what's happening because of having watched the original intro.

A similar thing happens in the chase scene from 0:09 - 0:14, though there's a second problem in that the movement isn't as exaggerated in the new one, which makes the ships seem like they're moving slower, in addition to it being harder to tell what's happening.

I didn't actually grow up watching this show as a kid, so at first I actually thought that the intro on the right was the new one!! Shame it's the other way around.... they probably could have just reused the old intro, even if they used the newer animation during the rest of the episode. The characters and style aren't so different looking that they couldn't have fudged it, and I've seen shows get away with having a slightly different style in the intro before

It lost it's charm with the new style. It feels unnaturally smooth and the lack of thickness loses the personal style that it had back then.
