NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro Best Thing To Do When You Get It!

The new NVIDIA Shield TV Pro is the best Android streaming box that money can buy right now. It comes with a beefy Tegra X1+ chipset and 3GB of RAM, but the internal storage is limited at 16GB. If that doesn't sound like enough storage space for your media needs, you can make use of the NVIDIA Shield TV's USB ports and mount an external storage device to easily expand your available storage.
In this video I show you how I did it and made room for my favourite Apps plex server ,Kodi server ,Sideload chrome, X-plore file manager, geforce now, steam link.

Good video however I don’t know why you used the ssd you did with the adapter etc? A Samsung T7 simply plug into the usb with the cable included format it and done.

I've just ordered an SSD an one of those cables as well. I'm going to use the Kingston 240GB SSD that's in my laptop and take the one I ordered (128GB Silicon Power SSD) and put it in my laptop.

Why not simply use the drive as external storage? Apps like Kodi and Retroarch can access the drive as a external drive. Then you have your apps on the 16gb internal drive and the data on the external which allows you to unplug the drive from the shield and plug it into a pc to load content to it and then move it back.

Can the Shield use Trim on the SSD. Maybe there's and app?

Thank you for the effort you put into this video. After this installation (via the USB) what kind of File data transfer speeds are you (or anyone reading this) getting (downloading to and uploading from the Shield). To be clear, I am not asking for a generalized (or guess type) of comment like "speeds should be faster". I am asking & hoping for a more detailed and specific answer please. I ask because I have done something similar but the speed to transfer and / or read and write data is much slower than the results that I expected (and I am trying to figure out if your solution cures my issue before I execute you solution). Help! :-)

Can i swap drives to and from the shield, with installed apps, or is it now fixed and i would have to reinstall those apps like i would in windows, because of their registry?

Hey K very cool video. I just swapped a tube for a pro and was going to use an external drive just as a DVR for TV Mate and then I saw this!! I see the SSD and adapter are less than $40. I use my shield for audio video and Nvidia GeForce Now gaming. Do you think this would help?

So, now being used as an internal drive, anything installed will be stored on the SSD? Are you seeing speeds at leat 400-500 speeds?, I wanted to try a 2 tb 870 EVO on my 16gig shield units.
