Dissociation is how your mind copes with too much stress, such as a traumatic event that has happened in your life.

Dissociation is when you experience a disconnection from yourself and the world around you.

Dissociation is a natural response to trauma for many people that they can't control or have no control of.

The trauma could be from a single past event or it could be an ongoing event.

Some people choose to dissociate as a way of focusing or calming down.

Here are 5 signs of dissociation

1. You feel disconnected - You feel no connection with the world around you, you may also feel disconnected from yourself, you feel like you are floating away.
2. Sudden and unexpected shifts in your mood - One minute you could be fine, then the next minute you feel extremely sad for no reason at all!
3. You find it hard dealing with intense emotions - You don’t know how to act, what to feel or what to do when you experience strong intense emotions in your life.
4. You have memory lapses - You have periods in your life where you can’t remember what has happened, you might also forget personal information such as ; your name, where you was born, how old you are etc.
5. You feel as if you are losing control to 'someone else' - You feel like you are not in control of your life, you feel as if someone else has taken over your emotions and actions, you don’t feel like you have a choice in your actions.

I go to look in the comments for advice as I have a panic attack thinking I might actually have this, then I end up laughing so hard cuz all of them are pointing out the awful choice in music

This makes me feel like I’m going crazy. I think something is mentally wrong with me. I zone out a lot and my memory is so bad I use to think I had some early onset dementia but at the same time I feel “normal”. I had a past like everyone else I just want to live life and be happy again

I had all of this happen to me yesterday for the first time in awhile and I’ll never forget how scary it is each time. I always feel like I can’t get back to reality and time doesn’t exist
