What if an Officer Prevents You From Rolling Up Your Window or Closing Your Door? 🚗👮‍♂️

So you got pulled over and the cop is preventing you from rolling up your window or closing your door, what are your options?

First and foremost, do NOT close the window or door on the officer's hand. The best thing to do is say, "Officer, am I free to go?" The officer has a limited time that they can keep you pulled over, so this puts them in the position to justify holding you. If they say no, say, "I am invoking my Fifth Amendment right to remain silent and I do not consent to a search of my property or my person. I would like to get on my way if you're done here." This should get them to hurry up the stop.

This is what they do when they come to your door without a warrant if youre naive enough to open the door for them. They stick their foot inside the door and wont move it. If you attempt to close the door, even slowly, they will immediately attack you and claim you assaulted them. If you step away from the door back into your house they will say the door was open and take that as an indication they were invited inside and they will swarm into your house. The only way to win is to never open the door in the first place and talk to them through the closed door

I was pulled over once . Long time ago. I had my dog in the car. I rolled the window down just enough for him to talk to me. I told him I don’t wanna roll it down because I have my dog in here he will bite you if you put your hands in here or if you go to grab me there’s no reason for you to grab me or put your hand in here. Cop gave me a bit of a hard I told him if you’re gonna give me a ticket, give me a ticket cause we’re gonna go to court. He was carrying on enough to wear somebody watching from across the street came over to see if I was all right why I was being detained so long ? and then he just decided he was gonna let me go. I don’t even know why he stopped me. I did nothing wrong and my vehicle was in good shape. 🤔

I think asking an officer to back up before obeying his order for you to exit the vehicle is a good idea. You can explain you want to have them remain safe from a swinging door. Once out of the vehicle, lock it and close it. Don't give them an opportunity to claim an open door or unlocked vehicle was permission given for them to search the vehicle. Roll up your window first.
