3. I charge for 8 cents /kw at home
4. Insurance went up $25 per year based on value of car.

I drive 120 kms per day. EV is the only way to go.

Something that wasn't mentioned was the long waits to repair electric cars. Very few shops work on them and it can take weeks-months to get something fixed properly on an EV

Just a small correction. Idling fees aren’t for keeping people from charging too long, they are for keeping people from using the charging space as a parking space.

gas tax doesnt pay for roads, hasnt for at least 30 years. legislators stole the gas tax and any roads they repair come out of general taxes.

I expect the charging fees to increase in the future. It's only"cheap" now as incentive to buy electric. When everyone is on electric, they'll start to come out with headlines of what a massive toll millions of charging cars puts on the grid and in order to be able to supply to everyone it'll cost more. They'll up the prices insanely high.

My buddy had his right rear quarter panel dented in a parking lot. I was completely shocked that the repair estimate was $26, 000! No wonder nobody wants to insure Teslas.

Saving money on gas means nothing when you have to make payments on a $100, 000 vehicle. Even so called economy cars start at $35, 000.

Thank you for making this video. Often we hear 'ev has no maintenace' and that is just not true. There is nothing magical about the suspension components on Tesla vs ICE. Ball joints, control arms and shocks wear down no matter which you pick.

Yeah, the right to repair issue is just another reason why I’m excited about the Aptera. They are working on making things so that you can work on them yourself. And you almost never will have to charge it. Though depending on your driving.

Thanks for making this video! There were somethings I knew, but other hidden fees make not getting an EV more sense for me. My Prius cost only 24k and maintenance is zero with 100k miles now. Every fill up gets me 450miles, tires are like $240 for all 4, oil change is $60 every 10k miles, gas is 87 octane, and it can carry a lot since it's a hatchback and the rear seats drop down. I think we needed to go plug in hybrid instead of all electric for the future.

Wow! $30 for a full charge. I pay $50 for my prius fill up even with the high gas prices.

Regarding insurance, my 2017 Bolt insurance is roughly the same as on my other 2 cars (the other 2 are Ford Fusion Hybrid and Chrysler minivan), all have the same full coverage with State Farm. I pay $1750 per year for all 3 (under $600/yr or $50/mo for each). I am now living in Tucson Arizona, but there was little change in cost from when I lived in NY. I think the cost to insure Teslas must be higher due to the high cost of collision repairs - unless you don't have collision and comprehensive coverage... Also in Tucson, I was able to register my Bolt for 5 years, the other two were only allowed for 1 or 2 years, and the annual registration was MUCH less than for each of my two hybrid/ICE vehicles (which also need emission inspection for renewal). My only maintenance in 4.5 years for the Bolt has been wiper blades, but the original tires are about worn out after 42K miles.

A lot of good information, I don't really like EVs because of the right to repair and we've been informed of outages this year by our electric company due to closing of fossil fuel plants. Its Michigan and they plan on closing more every year for the next few years. The infrastructure here is questionable as we were already dealing with power issues the last few years. If you have the money and want to buy an EV that's fine with me, I just question a government that's trying to push EVs without having the proper infrastructure in place.

I got all the hard and fast in the first several trips after I first bought my Mach E. Now I only use all that power when I have to. I'm at 35k miles and still on the first set of tires. It looks like I'll probably be changing them at 40k or so.
