GhostBed Luxe Mattress Review

GhostBed markets the Luxe as “The Coolest Bed in the World” and that effort starts in the materials used in the construction of the mattress. The Luxe has phase change material and gel memory foam, two materials known for their cooling and temperature regulation properties, in multiple locations in the mattress. Along with their cooling properties, the materials in the GhostBed Luxe should allow the sleeper to sink into the mattress for pressure relief.

The cover of the Luxe is a proprietary blend that uses phase change material to provide temperature regulation and cooling. It’s a smooth material and I found it to be cool to the touch when I first got my hands on the mattress. I should also point out that the cover is quilted to provide some initial pressure relief and comfort. In the cover is a 0.5” fiber layer as well as a 1” layer of gel memory foam.

There is a thin layer of phase change material just below the quilted cover that covers the entire surface area of the comfort layer beneath it. This layer will help with temperature regulation and cooling of the mattress. The comfort layer consists of 2 inches of gel memory foam. This layer will allow the sleeper to sink into mattress for pressure relief and contour to the body. Another advantage of the gel infusion of the memory foamis that it will help to dissipate body heat. Below the comfort layer is 2 inches of GhostBed’s proprietary bounce foam. It is a soft layer of foam and while it allows the sleeper to sink into the mattress a bit more, it has a quick response to pressure to provide some bounce and defend against a stuck feeling.

The base of the mattress is made of 7.5” of high density polyfoam. This is a firm material with a quick response to pressure that acts as the foundation for the structure. The base provides support to the layers above it as well as deep compression support to the sleeper. This layer also gives the Luxe its shape and provides some durability.

Used to have upper back spasms and my original ghost bed has been great until recently. I got it on sale for 700 bucks for a queen. That was in 2017. I'm not sure how I feel about a mattress working well for only 4 years. I loved how it felt originally but now there is a dip where I sleep on my side when I lay there like a sagging effect. Again it helped big time but now it doesn't but now I'm looking at luxe and wondering if it will last a little longer like 5 to 7 years and help my back out again which has been rough lately. Over all I like ghost bed as a brand and quality of materials used
