Today, we are back in Copenhagen for the restaurant that turned Denmark into a gastro-nation.
Arguably the best restaurant in the world will close for good at the end of 2024.
It’s name is Noma.
Three years in a row, from 2010 to 2012, Noma was named NO.1 restaurant in the world.
They would go on to claim the number one spot a total of 5 times.

04:43 incredible gesture to reserve and discount 4 of its 40 seats for students so they too can try a Michelin experience. Amazing!

I'm no foodie, and your channel was the one who introduced me to fine dining. But even I, knew about NOMA. When someone outside the fine dining world, knows about NOMA, it show that they are truly a one of a kind.

Alexander you're always so well read on the restuarants and it's chefs, makes it so much more enjoyable to watch your content.

The one we've been waiting for.

You're very fair in your review. Noma isn't the best restaurant in the world. It's not even the best restaurant in Copenhagen.

But no other institution has done so much to reinvent fine dining in the last decade or so.

I was lucky to dine at Noma back in January 2004 were Claus Meyer himself presented the food and he presented us for his manifesto, so when my wife and I got engaged in 2005 and discussed were to have a wedding dinner we talked about Kong Hans at first were my wife had been several times, but I remembered Noma suggested it, we whent there to a lunch and then my wife went with her mom, we got the OK to hold our wedding Dinner for 50 people at Noma which we did in July 26. 2006. I dont think this can be done so easily anymore 😃 but it was a perfect evening everybody talks of stil and that was what we wanted.

I can't get over your enthusiasm for the places you visit and the food you eat! I can't wait to see your next video!

As a dane I am tired of hearing about Noma.
They can't even pay their staff a fair wage and keep the place going properly.
it is posh, overpriced BS brought to you with bad morals IMO.
Let it close. It clearly Isn't worth enough to keep going.

This looks incredible, but with half the dishes I couldn't tell which part was edible and which part was just for decoration 😅

A little more than a year ago I sat at the shared table and made 3 new friends. It was an incredible experience. We still keep in touch and one of them even works at another Michelin 3-Star restaurant.

While it is somewhat fascinating, you have to admit that a restaurant bill for 2000€ for 2 is nothing short of perverted.
Of course people with enough money will always enjoy things the poorer ones won’t. But with the hunger in the World, I think this kind of mega over the top food experience is just pushing it too far. Food is a sensitive topic, and while what’s presented as food here is also art, it’s still food after all. To me, just not cool.

01:50 turns out the vast majority of people can't afford fine dining. "Changing what people eat" will never be possible if you keep the entry barrier that high.

Another excellent and atmospheric report, precise and knowledgeable. Very good categorisation - and so refreshingly different from many other reports that have little to offer apart from praise for the "best restaurant in the world". Well done!
