The Eclipse is the single most fucked up event in all of manga/anime. Griffith sacrifices the entire Band of the Hawk and brands Casca & Guts for sacrifice as well, so he can become a member of the God Hand and have his kingdom. If he had never ran his mouth at Guts (“I see a friend as someone who would oppose another body and soul in pursuit of his own dreams”) then Guts would have never left, Griffith wouldn’t have committed treason by fucking the king’s daughter, and the Band of the Hawk would all still be alive, probably living it up as nobles in charge of their own lands with their own titles.
