Indie Games:
In total, the Xbox Game Pass now has over 300 titles on offer for Xbox, PC, or compatible devices, leaving subscribers to the service spoilt for choice. With even more great games coming to the Game Pass in 2022, there hasn't been a better time to join the service.
10 Best Games Added To Xbox Game Pass In 2021, According To Metacritic
Of course, this selection isn't limited to big studio titles, as the Game Pass also excels in bringing in great indie games, including some amazing titles like Hades and Outer Wilds. There are a lot of indie games to choose from, and these are just the best of what's included in the Game Pass.
Halo:
While Halo Infinite debuted with great reviews and a lot of talk about it being a “return to form” for the series, the game has struggled to retain players past its initial launch period.
We are only two months post-launch, though closer to three for the early release of multiplayer, and near midway through the game’s first six month season. But Halo Infinite has fallen outside Xbox’s top 5 most played games, sitting at #6 behind long-term leaders it was unable to unseat for any significant lengthy of time.
Hogwarts:
The purported publishing date for an official art book seems to suggest that Hogwarts Legacy will release some time in September 2022. The upcoming game based on the famed Harry Potter franchise is highly anticipated, though there are still very few details about the project. The Hogwarts Legacy companion book narrowing the launch window is a solid lead, and a bit more concrete than nebulous rumors, but those eager to get into the wizarding world shouldn't expect the art book's release date to necessarily indicate that of the game, nor are either set in stone.
Hogwarts Legacy was revealed during a PlayStation 5 showcase in September 2020, and has yet to receive another trailer. It was originally slated to release in 2021 for most of the major platforms - PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC - but was delayed until 2022 over a year ago. The game is set to be an open world action-RPG, with players taking control of their own, custom created Hogwarts student sometime in the 1800s.
Series S:
It’s about the time of year/pandemic when we’ve gone through our streaming queue, read all the books we had piled up on the nightstand, and have otherwise run out of things to do. In this case, there’s one option let, and that’s gaming. If you’re just getting in on the Xbox party, it’s a great time: You can score an Xbox Series S Fortnite and Rocket League bundle for just $279.99 on eBay right now. (And no, it’s not a refurbished set—everything included is brand new and ready for action).
The Series S is the smaller (much smaller) version of the Series X, and the major difference is that it doesn’t have a disc drive, unlike the X. It’s great if you’re just getting into gaming since so many games are downloadable to the consoles directly (if you have older games or DVDs you want to watch, you should look into the X). It’s also a less powerful machine compared to the X in terms of storage and performance ratings, but if you’re a casual gamer, it shouldn’t make a huge difference.
