Great short and concise video. I had not removed a shimano cassette in a while and this was super helpful.

Thanks for a clear and straightforward video, picked up the necessary tool and the cassette was off, spoke replaced, and then everything went back together again. Very helpful.

Simple. Exactly what I need. I couldn't remember which direction to turn it

Could you theoretically just use an old bike chain for the chain whip?

At 00:36 you have bugs in your service center. Ha. Gnats are a pain. Hate thee little buggers. Esp around house plants. Anyhow thanks for this killer video. I knew nothing of the chain whip nor the special tool. Have always dreaded working on bikes from childhood onward. Now I know why. Wrong tools! Thx :)

I saw a tutorial by a bikeshop and they said that it's best to use a torque wrench when you screw it back on. On the bolt, the special tool, there should be a nm mark so you give the right pressure. Then you will never have te problem of putting it on too tight or too loose.

My guy must be midwestern or Canadian based on the way he pronounces Shimano

Is a tiny spacer always left in place? Or does that depend on some measurements or spacing

how many turns did you do to remove the lock ring? or vice versa, how many turns do you need to get the lockring tighten ?

What can I use instead of the chain whip ?

Does the spacer (almost like a washer) stay on no matter what?

The tool doesn't spin my cassette when i try to turn it in either direction. Is there something wrong? It won't budge.
