With the release of the April update (2016), Power Bi allows the use of parameters and in this video I will show you how to configure them to avoid using hardcoded paths when connecting to file sources in your computer.

Is there a way to hide the sample paramters from the automatic table transformations?

Parameter is amazing.

Is there a way to access folder path being returned from a cell in excel and use that as an input for another query? This is to avoid maintaining multiple parameters when you have to change path or share file with multiple users.

One point to add, I believe you have to mention that the parameter name should be without spaces!
When I tried to do the same I failed because of that

This is really nice. Do you have a version of this that accesses SharePoint folders?

I tried to use parameter for sql server address; it didn't work when I reference parameter like this
= Sql.Database("Server", "test")
