George Cole's portrayal of Arthur Daley, a charming yet morally dubious small-time crook and wheeler-dealer, was nothing short of masterful. His ability to make audiences simultaneously laugh at and root for a character who often found himself embroiled in various schemes and predicaments showcased his exceptional comedic talent. Arthur Daley's witty one-liners and endless schemes made him a character fans couldn't help but love.

Dennis Waterman, on the other hand, brought depth and authenticity to the role of Terry McCann, Arthur's loyal bodyguard. Terry was the moral compass of the series, providing a contrast to Arthur's antics. Waterman's portrayal of Terry as a tough but ultimately good-hearted character added depth and balance to the show's dynamics. The on-screen chemistry between George Cole and Dennis Waterman was palpable, making their partnership one of the most memorable in television history.

In addition to the dynamic duo, "Minder" boasted a talented supporting cast, including Glynn Edwards as Dave Harris, the genial landlord of the Winchester Club; Patrick Malahide as the persistent Detective Sergeant Chisholm, who had a keen interest in Arthur's activities; Gary Webster as Ray Daley, Arthur's nephew; and Peter Childs as the bumbling Des. Each actor brought their own unique charm and quirks to their respective roles, contributing to the show's success.

"Minder" was a show that blended humor, wit, and genuine character development, making it a beloved classic in the annals of British television. Its talented cast, led by George Cole and Dennis Waterman, created a lasting legacy that continues to entertain audiences to this day, reminding us of the enduring appeal of this iconic series. Both brilliant actors and blended well together. Dennis was about the same age as me and I was sorry about his recent passing away earlier this year. Both portrayed typical London characters during the sixties seventies and early eighties. Sadly those type of characters are few and far between today.

Dennis Waterman became a household name in a series called 'The Sweeney' in the 1970s

No way was Peter Childs George’s ‘friend’ - you got the wrong character. Like Patrick Malahide he was there to catch Daley.

George Cole died in hospital from a short illness. Dennis Waterman did not release any albums after Minder, he retired after New Tricks, coming out of retirement to do the film Never too Late released in 2020. Glynn Edwards retired after Minder. Peter Childs played Rycott and passed away not long after series 7 of Minder was broadcast.

Dennis waterman was already a household name for his role as Carter in the sweeney. Peter childs played Rycott, not Des. Des was playing by George Layton.

Most of the scenes shown here are not from the series, they are taken from advertising George Cole did parodying the Arthur Daley role, but without actually referencing the character.
