A common issue on both the 5.9 and 8.3 Cummins Diesel engine is a low power or no start concern caused by a faulty fuel shutoff solenoid.

Great video. A quick shot of WD-40 might get you to where you need to go until you get the solenoid replaced. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome video. I would have put never seize on the two bolts that's just me. My question is if the solinoid dose not engage will that stop the starter motor from engaging?

piece of advise, i made it a habit to put the bolts on the shutdown solenoids with pipe dope, after i had one rattle off. Nice thing about pipe dope vs loctite, is the pipe dope doesnt' care if it's clean threads or not, and it keeps stuff from rattling off those old mechanical cummins.

Hi. Appreciate the video. My 8.3 Cummins will not shut down when the ignition key is in the off position. I unplug the fuel solenoid to stop the engine. Plus the low air buzzer goes off even before the rv is started with the ignition key out. But once the air pressure builds up to 60lbs it stops buzzing which is doing its job. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. David

On my 8.3 CummingI lost power and found that the pressure tube to the AFC from the intake manifold had broken in two I converted it with a line from just past the outflow of the Turbo for quicker Turbo spin up and more power

Somebody asked before if a fried shutoff solenoid will stop the starter from engaging. Was there an answer? I hope it is yes!!!

Have you thought of doing a full gauge swap? I think the dash would look better with newer LED backlit gauges. jmho

Major note on this part it must be adjusted correctly or you will have no power or potentially will or potentially will not restart, in other word that needs to be lengthened and that will increase your throttle movement . My holiday Rambler with the 8.3 as no power and could barely hit 6060 I question the previous owner, he had just replaced his part and it was not adjusted properly he admitted it need to be adjusted but he did not see it being related to lacking power, funny how the seller has amnesia

BTW-Where did you get that for $30. I bought one online from a company called Diesel Parts for $230.
Cummins wanted $950!
