An old mechanic once asked me if I knew how to stop a runaway diesel,
I said "No"
He then said "don't ever start a diesel"

Diesels run away Because they have dysfunctional families

The fucking mad Max screaming in the background truly emphasizes that this is in matter of fact a diesel engine

Nice to see proper ventilation in a class room. 😅🤣

I always use a block of wood because rags can get sucked in and destroy stuff

I went to school here and rebuilt that same engine a few years after this. 12 valve Cummins started right up for us!

*turbo oil exists* Engine: it's free real estate

I don’t think he was using a rag I think it was one of those plastic covers that come with the brand new turbo to protect it from debris, still dangerous though could of catch a finger or two.

For a second there, i thought he was putting his hand over the turbo inlet.

Well Goober you should have thought about that before you fired that engine up!! After servicing a Diesel or building a fresh one, always have two ways to shut it down before starting it up! Fuel shut off, Air shut off, a CO2 fire extinguisher, have a piece of plywood cut to size with one side covered with Neoprene Rubber for the air inlet!!!

Dude laughing in the background sounded like the intro to crazy train

I like that mad scientist laughter, and that it didn't want to stop with a turbo cover on it.

When I was in the army learning to work on generators we were told to cut off the air if the motor ran away because it started burning the oil as fuel .

Ohhh classroom engines. How I don't miss working on them. HS auto shop had a 302 5.0 that threw a rod shortly after startup. The resulting kaboom nearly shot a golf ball sized chunk of metal through my instructors face when he was trying to unjam the throttle. We only knew because it cut some of his hair off as it whizzed by.
