Imagine finding a old Pete in the middle of a graveyard and doing this. So many good trucks ready to be completely rebuilt.

My Dad was a long distance truck driver for decades and was one of the best. Sadly, he passed away in 2020, 4 days after my 46th birthday. My Dad loved Peterbilts with Cat engines. I would love to buy an older style Pete cabover, do a frame off resto on it and put a new Cat engine in it. Now it may be possible!

Well that's nice of them. They probably realized cat owners are super loyal and will keep their trucks on the road for ever. Can't imagine this is a short term money maker but it'll pay off in selling parts long term

Wow! Ran a 1 million mile plus 3406 in my primary roll-off (Tractor derived) truck, with never one problem excellent engine. Well done.

For years I've recommended the Cat 3406E and C15 series. But seeing how many miles on those old blocks and reman parts and some of the issues my customers have experienced, I have been changing to newer trucks just because reliability in the remans is getting worse. I hope this program gets the reliability and longevity back.

When the government collapses and the EPA is gone we will need to produce reliable old tech diesels again.

I'm so happy. I knew big mama CAT was gonna be there for us in the long haul. I love my older, more experienced trucks.

Great news !!! I've heard rumors of this, but I didn't believe it.
Going to get one for my 2016 Pete Glider, currently 840, 000 miles. Thanks Josh !! 👍🏽🤔✌🏽

The secret message here is take very good care of your 2000 and earlier trucks because now you can get a brand new engine for it. NO emissions YAAAA. More better power and excellent reliability. Go cat 😁😁😁😁😁

Wow perfect timing. I just pulled my 3406e out of a truck which has a cracked crank, maybe I will look into getting a 6nz.

Let’s hope Caterpillar here in Australia is coming to the party. They were the most popular engine in heavy duty trucks until they stopped supplying. The only other options were Cummins or Detroit and they were never as reliable as CAT. That’s why Caterpillar powered trucks here always fetch top dollar.

People are jumping on this at my dealer, been getting a lot of old 2 stroke Detroits that have obviously been sitting in a barn for a while lol

Best news I've heard in years. I hope whatever CAT does they will introduce an equal or better 3406 or 15 liter engine.

Pretty amazing information video Josh. Perfect submissions for destruction. The ship one was epic. Thank you for the shout out Josh. Cheers man. Happy wrenching. 🔧🪛🔩

lot of boats have been doing this. its all about the epa. emissions and tier category. a lot of time if they had an old oil burner detroit or something it was free to get upgraded to a tier 3 or something. personally, on a boat, id prefer a mechanical engine but some guys want the latest and "greatest". love watchin your videos, thanks.

A reman 6nz at the local CAT dealer is 45K with a 19.5K core deposit. I can only imagine what the new engine will run. The 20R-9323 number will not even come up in their system.

I'll be doing an isx to cat swap in a t660 sometime this year. I'm looking forward to having a reliable engine in what is otherwise a nice truck with a lot of life left still .
