PSA: Discord added a New Raid and Scamming Method...

Please check your server perms...

Because months ago Discord gave people a new way to raid servers and to send scam messages. People use a Discord bot to spam channels or send scam messages. However, if you try to ban the bot, it doesn't work. You don't even know who sent the Discord scam either.

But there is a way to both remove these bots from your server and see who's behind the messages.
(and for you nerdy Discord users, you already know what's happening. But this is a PSA :) )

It refers to Roblox's script permission stuff where level 6 is a corescript and has very little restrictions (used to be level 7)

my only guess as to why the feature is turned on by default is because otherwise no one who knew about the feature would be able to use it in servers they dont have management permissions for, which is really silly because it just means every server admin who doesn't keep track of every new useless-to-bad feature discord releases is gonna be caught off guard by it.

i run a server of about 2k people and we disabled it about 2 months after release (it released in late june this year) since someone in the server made a bot for it that was pretty fun to mess around with, but ultimately we weren't willing to wait around until someone abused the feature-- so apparently we were a while ahead of the game in terms of being ready for people to abuse it, lol :p

When Discord added the external apps like 2 months ago all the ppl in the server I help run collectively went "oh sweet Discord added a feature for anyone to spam the chat". Thankfully we found a way to turn it off quickly because even the default "benevolent" bots were spammy

In the Psych2Go discord server (which I'm active in btw) got the "discord" bot but one of the mods in there found who was sending the scams and banned them from the server, and these bots haven't came back since, what I also found was that the bots weren't even in the server and still sending messages, hence why it was impossible to ban these bots from the servers
