The Last Samurai: Honoring Katsumoto. I will tell you how he lived

For those who have seen this part of the movie, you will notice a couple parts have been clipped. This is because the video got copyrighted if it went past 5 minutes. I wanted to make sure that the final ending was included.

While the part of Omura being chastised by the Emperor was great, I wanted to include the most important parts to convey the overall theme.

This scene had me crying about myself!! I don’t know why but I feel like this scene was like a self evaluation of myself and how we must be better people by honoring the past but making sure to live in the present and build a future where our legacy is long lasting!! Doesn’t matter if it is an individual, a group, or a nation!! We need to be better people regardless!!

Two of possibly the best lines in the film:
"I will tell you how he lived"
"I will miss our conversations"

The most beautiful ending to a movie. Hans Zimmer is a legend.

2:21 "But we cannot forget who we are or where we come from."

One of the very best lines in the entire film.

All these years and I never thought about it, but the emperor was kind a pushover and weak, that’s why the aid could always take advantage of him and the situation…after being told that samurai always wished the samurai spirit will be with the emperor, he suddenly transformed from weak into strong and demonstrated that the spirit was certainly with him. Another deeper view is that sword got the last laugh against the aid who was complacent in unaliving the samurai and that swords owner. Vengeance from the grave

“We cannot forget who we are or where we come from.” 2:27 this line hits hard!! Especially when there are people who completely forget who they were before and become a stranger to their own family or own people!!

Nathan Algren: Your highness, if you believe me to be your enemy, command me, and I will gladly take my life.
*about 3 centuries earlier*
John Blackthorn: I, Anjin, by my death protest the callous punishment of this village by Yoshii Toranaga.

One of the most beautiful scenes in cinematic history. Tear up everytime I watch it. It represents what the world should be, amd what we really desire deep down inside.

I wonder if this sword still exist today. If this event were real. I would love to see the real one

"Tell me how he died"
He went like a total badass! He already took injurys in close quater combat fight including a whole bayonet going through him! Then when we was charging directly towards that little bitch omura my former arsehole of a commander shot him in the shoulder, oh dont worry i lauched my sword into his chest... the sword katsumoto had made for me! We got so close to ending that ass omuras too had it not been for his gatling guns, cant help but think - 'come on guys theres less than 20 of us left charging at you and you need not 1 but 2 gatling guns?' Anyway that still wasnt enough to end katsumotos life but sadly was enough to wound him badly, he had me assit him in committing a tradtion your nation will be one of the few if not only ones known for doing... seppuku.

He died happy knowing he saw beauty cherry blossums that coincidently happened to be behind me.

I only wish he could have witnessed your troops removing their hats and bowing their heads to the ground to honour him 😢

Every time I see this film, especially this scene I get emotional. Maybe because we all want to have that level of honor and integrity. And the respect and absolute love of a friend we would lay down our lives for.
