Gelish dip application & review | dip powder nail gel polish tutorial

Finally I tested Dip system by Gelish.
Unlike Polygel it didn't seem so easy for me at first :)
11 years ago I tried dip system when I attended beauty school but it was quite different and we used tip glue and activator was in spray bottle.
So it is fair to say it was my first time trying 'modern' dip system.
Once you figure out what each product is supposed to do it becomes a bit easier. I can definitely recommend this system for clients with thin, damaged nails. For those who prefer active style or do sports.
I have few ideas on what to do with this system, once I test them I will sure share them too!
Keep up with the updates ;)

Nice but, wouldn't dipping into the same jar be equivalent to brushing the powder off the finger into the jar? If hands were washed properly I don't see a problem either way.

For the removal process, try buffing off the top coat so the seal can be broken for acetone to work more effectively. It'll be much easier for the product to break down.

Hi Anastasia, I am a nail tech and I use dip powders. I found that a no wipe gel top coat works great and holds it's shine on these nails. Also for removal I file most of the product off first and soak off the rest comes off great.

I bought the same brand for dip powder. Thanks for the tips, can't wait to try it myself.

I bought this brand recently. It was pretty good. I found the activator took awhile to harden though.
And also when I dipped it took a couple of minutes to dry between dips. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. I don’t like the brushes. Going to try wiping it onto a gel brush, especially for the base coat.
I loved your application. The end result was perfect 👍

With the gelish system after filing I thought you’re supposed to add another coat of activator and wipe off excess then do top coats?

The soak off method given to me by my salon involves putting your acetone wrapped nails into a sandwich baggie then placing an "ice bag" filled with very warm water (she let's me get it as hot as I want) on top of your hand for 10 to 15 mins. The treatment always comes off in one piece cleanly with no filing required.

I just completed one hand. Had to do 2 layers of top coat. There are really weird dry/matte looking patches. Wonder what I did wrong?

I am using NSI Simplicité PolyDip. Because it's gel-based it is soakable. With this acrylic dipsystem I have no problems at all to remove it.

You did not apply activator before top coat, is it necessary to apply activator before top or not?

I just started this last week and my problem is with the brushes getting clogged. I use the brush cleaner overtime. I also noticed that the Activator brush separates into 2 and no matter what you do it stays that way, this isn't a problem its just a little strange. The nails I did today were great except for the cuticle got a little close!

😞 I need to do my own nails. I went to a salon to have some broken nails fixed and now that I am watching your video, it wasn't a sanitary place and they did a crappy job. Thank goodness I was able to straighten out the filing without losing the length. It would suck to have gotten nail tips that actually ended up shorter than my other natural nails. I watch a ton of nail videos, I have a nail design channel myself, but I don't do tips or sculpting, anyway everyone that I watch on YouTube is amazing yet the salons in my area suck. I just want to say have you ever watched a nail video in your life. Half the time I could have done a better job. I am glad you added how to remove the dip powder since eventually I will need to do that.

I dip mine right in the jar. I have mentioned this to all clients and all of the laugh and say good grief. I will continue to ask and see how all of them feel.
