MORE GOOD COURSES

Not only is coding on an ipad pro doable, it was a much better programming experience than I expected. That said, I don't plan to give up my m1 macbook pro anytime soon. The ipad pro could handle software development in a pinch, but I would not want to have it be my main tool for code.

Currently a Junior in high school with a huge interest in software development, and I'm gonna be taking two classes to learn coding this year. Just bought an iPad and an Apple Pen, I'm so freaking excited to learn this year!

Wow. I watched another video on this exact topic today, and dude went out of his way to avoid actually coding on an iPad.

I respect that you found a way. Obviously isn’t ideal, but I can imagine a workflow where you have a main desktop but to “get away” but still allow productivity you use the iPad for coding in other locations or for tinkering in your off time.

I’m interested in it because I want to test whether or not having a more minimal environment will increase my productivity and stop me from getting distracted by things.

Hey man, great video. I've done backend development through SSH on my iPad Pro, as I just use nvim + tmux on my desktop anyways. That was fine, but you're right about keyboard options not being so good.

Nice thinking for frontend development. I had tried a VNC connection but it was too laggy for me. Maybe in another year or so there will be better options.

This is an area that I feel Microsoft got it "right" with their Surface book. Carry around a functional laptop, but then pull the screen off and it goes into tablet mode. Wish we had that in Apple land!!

Thanks for pointing out all the available options

3:50 Option 4 - Using connect to a Raspberry Pi that you have with you. SSH onto it or connect via a Remote Desktop. Maybe even run something like Docker on it and get VS Code in the brower running from it.

Well switched my complete dev environment to a cloud vps (ubuntu server), installed code-server and developing dotnet core, vuejs apps in my browser. My benefits are: I can switch to another machine and my dev environment is the same as before. I can reinstall my machine without having to reconfigure everything, i can code on my tablet if needed.

The best thing about code-server is that i have my full setup with docker, cli tools and so on. As soon as i push my code the main branch, the ci/cd pipeline will deploy to test and live server.

Maybe this is an option for anyone.

Like the video, but I do have a question, if I wanted to just use my iPad Pro to develop apps and things, is that actually possible, and other than your advice to use the MacBook Pro, do you have any other suggestions as to what programs are best used all around to incorporate accessibility without leaving a function ability and creativity?

Also, love the production quality in this video! But I don't know if it's just me but the B-Roll and iPad shots you took came out sort of dark and I had to turn up my brightness. Don't know if that's just my eyes acting up though haha!

Hello from Rio de Janeiro! Which apps do you recommend for coding on iPad 9? I’m now studying a Front-End course and I use the iPad for many things in my day, like study for my collegge and another courses.

Dude, tell me, I am on my way to the Apple Store to get an iPad Pro 12.9. What keyboard should I get, the case? The magic seems not right. Hence why I am going to store to get a feel. I also need good high speed RDP. Like you, I want to be on the go, I am outside a lot. But I want to basically use it for personal use and for getting native app prototypes, demos, testing before committing to investing in a Mac devices.

Great video. I am a accounting major but was interested if my 2018 iPad Pro can handle programming. I want it to do it all but it's the ram that keeps refreshing everything if I leave an app for too long. It's not bad but hoping the next upgrade will have less apps refreshing when returning to them like on a Mac
