This is a part of the long-anticipated curriculum reveal for my rising 5th this fall. I felt this needed its own video because there is just so much here to explain. The rest of the curriculum will be here shortly and I'll show it to you as soon as it gets here!

I am doing a combination of Story of the World and Simply Charlotte Mason Genesis-Deuteronomy/Egypt study.

I can't wait to see how this works for you. Mystery of history is on our radar waiting for my youngest to be ready.

We used MOH this year and stopped to study certain times more in-depth, like dinosaurs with many of the resources you showed, Egyptian culture, etc. It went great! I agree that you don't have to do activities for every lesson. My son would color timeline worksheets while I read it aloud.

I love this combination! We are also doing Mystery of History level 1 this year. I am saving this video for future shopping! Yay!

Cannot wait to see how you like Mystery of History! I've been looking to it for the 2022-2023 school year when my oldest is 1st grade!:) Either MOH or SCM!

So happy you did this video! This is what I was thinking of doing as well. Trying to shop my shelves and using MOH as well.

I would love to see the timeline stickers close up and can’t wait to see how this goes for you!

We used Sonlight world history combined once and it was super fun!

Wow! Looks amazing 👏😍👌. I am still debating between MOH and Story of the World (I hear SOTW covers more historical events than MOH but I'm not sure how many more or if the difference is negligible or not). Please keep us updated on how well the Masterbooks Timeline Cards work with the MOH curriculum. That would be useful info to know how many cards you had to create for MOH. Anyway, bravo mama! I will be following your progress on this and if it works, I might like to duplicate it!

I would love to see a video on the differences in your mind between MOH & Story of the World as far as content and retention of the information. Also interested in seeing a flipthrough of your dinosaur and noahs Ark books. ❤

We are doing something kind of crazy for history too. This fall my 7th and 5th graders are using Bookshark level G, which includes both SOTW 1 and 2 as read alouds. Then I’m going to have them read MOH 1 and 2 during their independent reading time. Then the following year they will complete Bookshark H with SOTW 3 & 4 and independent reading of MOH 3 & 4, if it all works out!! Good luck to you this fall :)

This looks so interesting. Can't wait to see how you do this because I have been contemplating something like Heart of Dakota's Preparing Hearts for His Glory. I believe it goes through world history in a year.

You should check out Homeschool in the Woods! Great lap book resources. I have been back in forth between them and Mystery of History!

I've got MOH on my radar for when my two oldest are both in middle school. It looks like a fantastic history course. I will be excited to hear how this goes for you and your children next year! I think your plan sounds great but if it gets to be too much you can always scale back & maybe not cover all the history you are wanting to cover this year. :) Your oldest is only 5th so there is still plenty of years left for him to get all the history he will need!

I tried do something like this with Astronomy this year and was so disappointed. Hope this works for you.

We have the Big history timeline and have sadly never opened it...I have most of the dinosaur books too. I am going to try this next year. I may try and find the MOH text book just to have, but we do love audio. We have done SOTW as only audio for 2 cycles and it was perfect for us. We usually only used the maps and we did the review questions orally.

You're not crazy! ❤ I was just watching this with my sons beside me and said "Look! This family has a similar plan to ours!" We are schooling rising 1st, 4th, and 6th graders and are starting with MOH alongside From Adam To Us (Notgrass). We are keeping a steady pace and it's been great so far! We also pick and choose our MOH activities with the main focus on reading through the lessons. We will park at a certain spot if the children show an interest. I'm interested to know your plan for your 6th grader next year (regarding history). Do you have a curriculum in mind that this year is preparing him for?

I purchased the latest edition of MOH Vol. 1 along with the suggested family read alouds but I also just purchased a used Sonlight HBL B. Not sure which I will use or just combine both. I’m not a hands on mom. I’m much more a read aloud and discuss and then move on.

I think you'll do just fine with this!
How do you like that dinosaur book by Ken ham, I have a Dino enthusiast with my lil guy, thinking this would be good resource for him

Why didn’t you go with Notgrass From Adam to Us?
