Reddit is the most scummy, degenerate, nepotistic and intolerant place on the internet. Even the most wholesome participation in any discussion will be met with immediate and vitriolic retribution not just from every user, but also from the moderators of that community themselves. As George Carlin would say, Reddit is a big club, and you ain't in it!

Anyone still found a good alternative to tumblr? Tumblr banned me and i didn't even had adult content on it. I just want a less "cartoonish" social media with a more mature view of things and that also allows you to express your moods without restrictions.
Basicly all i posted on tumblr was stuff related to metal music, a few war pics (probably what got me banned) and melancholic stuff.

Why is there no real alternative to Reddit? The concern with Reddit is not privacy. The concern is that it is a shit hole. It's full of toxics and cyberbullies. And this includes mods who abuse users. So users get abused by cyberbullies. And rather than cyberbullies getting banned, the mods ban the victim. This has happened to me on multiple subs.

Making a Reddit alternative list without mentioning Lemmy... Lemmy is 100% opensource and written in rust with web frameworks built for pure performance, minimal bloat, and decentralization.

Server response times are much faster and the webpage is more than 100 times smaller than reddit making load and render times insanely fast (even on mobile). Ontop of that, it works towards having a fediverse so it can be decentralized similar to decentralized mailing services.

Just got my 3rd suspension, this time for just saying "tattle tail snail 🐌" Glad this video exists so I can find a new place and can get rid of the reddit app for good

Hey Tom, I would really appreciate it if you could make an updated video on this topic for 2022? It seems like the Mod situation has only gotten worse & more divisive following the trend of increased censorship across all of the other mainstream social networks.

I cant find any information on the number of active users and total users for any of these smaller niche communities either, I feel like this would be really interesting to compare which sites are growing fastest and which are losing relevancey.
