"Level up." This idiom is used repeatedly without a clear definition. Idioms are generally learned by inferences from context, using the same method that we learn colors or that small children learn to talk, and are susceptible to local interpretations that can obfuscate the intended meaning. A proper explanation of the intended meaning would circumvent this problem and is preventably missing. BAD MANNERS, ALUX.

The concept of making a jump from one mindset to another is legitimate, however. As a business-school student, having been self-employed for over a year previously, I slowly got a sense that education provides the tools for a jump to productive employment or business ownership, but that there is a barrier to progress that cannot be overcome solely by education. The barrier can be approached more and more closely with more and more education, but a personal shift in attitude and behavior is needed that requires more than education can provide.

What Alux means and does not properly explain is that one requires a consequence of confidence that inspires, permits, and encourages a person to charge ahead to a bigger task set, a bigger assortment of responsibilities, a bigger burden of line-management activity, a materially different income and lifestyle, without being afraid of making these changes solely because they are changes.
