One of the saddest things I see all the time is the rejected “first wife” who no longer fits her husband’s vision of his lifestyle now working at a menial job. They find themselves selling cosmetics, hostessing, or working in reception. Jobs that normally are entry level for someone half their age. They all have the same haunted look like they just don’t understand why they can’t have the life they planned anymore. My dad saw many of these in the workforce.
