I love this original version with Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie. It's so nice that they remain the same actors throughout the years. I do not know the other versions but I am very convinced that the original can not be surpassed, at least in my eyes ..

They are so perfect and watched these when I was young, glued to it and still today fills me an explicable sense of emotion, tears, anticipation and elated delightful nostalgic happiness... It's a beautiful ending and I love it, but I'm also upset the story has ended. Megan and Jonathan portrayed Anne and Gilbert beautifully. I have a dreadful feeling in my heart knowing there's no more to it. Watching it all over and over again won't do anything really; it'll just make me miss it more.

This past weekend I rewatched all the AGG Sullivan films and NOTHING compares. I always get emotional on the love story of Anne and Gilbert. He was in love with her from the start and absolutely adore Jonathan and Megan in these roles. Nothing compares! Also, while the Continuing Story may not be the strongest, seeing Anne and Gilbert FINALLY in love and free of their affections toward each other is absolute pay off.

Another touching thing with this series is they were really children/teenagers (first episodes filmed in 1985) in the first episodes. The last season was filmed in 2000. And they were really grown-up adults. There is no "fake" make-up to age characters. This cannot be found anymore in any series or movies. Everything is so fast without flavor, you know
