I’m having the same issue with my 2010 Jetta. Literally the same situations: gas cap light, then no light, followed by CEL. Code was P0455, and main suggestion was replace fuel cap. Trying to decide if it’s better to have a mechanic look at the code or just order a new cap.

My issue was the evap purge valve, but I'm getting the same lights on again after a month ... dunno, I don't wanna buy a new fuel cap, but I think it could potentially be an EVAP system leak.
