Son of one of the greatest explorers of all time, Dr. Thor Heyerdahl Jr. is a marine biologist who lives in southern Norway. In 1947, when he was nine years old, his father sailed nearly 5,000 miles across the Pacific on a wooden raft called the Kon-Tiki and was launched to worldwide fame. Dr. Heyerdahl Jr. was close to his father and journeyed with him on an expedition to Easter Island during the 1950s.

I traveled to the Kon-Tiki Museum in Oslo for a conversation with this extraordinary 84-year-old scientist, lumberjack, and legend in his own right! I hope you enjoy this interview. You can learn more about Dr. Heyerdahl Jr., his father, and the Kon-Tiki Museum at the links below:

Special thanks to my dad, brother, mom, Mike Levine, Dr. Liv Heyerdahl, Ms. Grethe, and all the staff at the Kon-Tiki Museum. The copyrights for the images of Thor Heyerdahl throughout this video belong to the Kon-Tiki Museum, and the copyright of the Norwegian Airlines image belongs to hsckcwong on Flickr.
