For me, it is clarity. I love being able to know what the text says and recognizing its precision in comparison with translations.

Vitality!!! Reading the text in the original is definitely slower, but the reward is having more time to meditate on the truth displayed in the text. It also helps to follow the argument of the author better. Thank you, really good video.

That last point about forcing you to read slower is one of the great benefits of reading the Bible in the original languages. I also find that it is one of the easiest to explain when people ask why learning Greek and Hebrew is so important.

These are all great points and benefits of reading the GNT naturally. I’ve experienced them all to varying degrees as I’ve gained the ability to read a number of NT books with fluency. It’s exciting to know that the more I read the Greek, the more effective these benefits are becoming. Thanks Darryl..!

Clarity has been the main reason why I’m learning Greek but the other three are also very good, especially vitality, I never thought about that.

I also believe vitality is the most important reason to read because as the apostle Paul reminds us faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, the words of the New Testament were written inspired by God. There are so many versions and translations of the Bible and unless we have 100% infilling of Holy Spirit we can miss a lot in translation. Like speaking in tongues, reading the word of God in the original language can bring our faith to life.

Hi Darryl thanks for your video. I did some basic Greek but found most of my time was spent learning word ending which I have now forgotten. What I would like is to learn how to translate a Greek sentence, I know he word order is different to English. The other thing is I would like to know how to do a Flow structure . I am an occasional speaker and I believe seeing the structure in Greek can help me.

- Clarity appears to me very important. Most sermons I hear start with application and mold that into the text which removes the original context - which the application sounds really good but it is not what the text is really saying.

I would love to be able to read the text well enough to understand the subtleties of the text. Even good translations will use a single word or phrase to approximate the meaning, yet the Greek word/phrase can have a much deeper sense. I also want a better understanding of how mood, cases and prepositions affect the meaning of the text.

Clarity. - I want to know what the original text means. I started using an Interlinear Bible a while back and realized that the English translation didn't capture the full conveyance of the text. The original text is the inspired Word of God. Everything else is mans' translation of it. You're one thumbs-down was probably a King James onlyist.
