When emergency happens, first aid is expected to be done to preserve life, prevent injury, and promote recovery. First aid is done within the framework of the emergency scene management (ESM), which consists of four broad stages, namely: scene survey, primary survey, secondary survey, and ongoing patient care. The focus of this presentation is on the Primary Survey which is a quick assessment of the PATIENT to determine if he/she is in LIFE-THREATENING condition. To determine this, the patient must be assessed on four areas, namely: Responsiveness, Airway, Breathing, and Circulation. The big question is when do you say that a Patient's life is threatened? This question is answered in this presentation.
