Guild Wars 2: How To GET STARTED At Level 80 (2023 New Player Guide)

CLEAN INVENTORIES. GEARING PROCESS. STATS. Here's a BEGINNER'S GUIDE to the fundamentals of Guild Wars 2 if you've just boosted to level 80 or need a refresher!

I find a lot of 'Level 80' guides assume the player is already familiar with the game, but with the influx of new players (especially ones jumping straight into End of Dragons to play with friends) I figured I'd make a guide running through the basics such as inventory management and masteries, all the way up to dipping your toes into Fractal Dungeonsto earn yourself some gold. A lot of the sections in this video were directly inspired by questions in the comments as well as to help friends I've brought into the game, so I hope this guide can help you too!

Something to note — there are a few sets of easy, TP-buyable Berserker's gear that'll cost you no more than 3-5 gold. Those are the Devona's set (~4g 1s, heavy), the Nika's set (4g 36s, medium), and the Zhed's set (2g 96s [!!!], light). You'll probably have more than enough gold to buy these outright once you hit 80 — if you don't, 2-3 days of dailies will be more than enough to get you there. Don't waste your Bladed Armor boxes and other stat-selectable exotic gear on Berserker's stats!

If your mastery bar is full, extra earned XP does NOT vanish into the ether. It accumulates and you receive spirit shards.

Ive done every PvE encounter, normal and challenge. With the action cam. Ive done it in every role dps, tank, support, utility and kiting on all bosses. So you can 100% do everything with action cam.

Xp not used for levelling a mastery is used to generate spirit shards, it's about 252 000 xp per shard if you are not training a mastery

Great video! Something really useful to note is the Mystic salvage kit. You can combine one of each salvage kit and 3 Mystic Forge Stones in the mystic forge to get the Mystic salvage kit which has 250 uses and the same tier as the Master's, which makes it around 1.5 gold cheaper than buying the equivalent 10 Master's salvage kits.
