Are you thinking of repairing or replacing the brick mortar yourself? Here's how I repaired mine. My results were favorable but I am not a professional. **In regards to mold cleaning products (TSP, bleach, Borax, Distilled White Vinegar, each by themselves or in any combination, etc.), **PLEASE READ all WARNING labels, research each products pros and cons, wear protective equipment when handling and mixing, use only in well ventilated areas, and be aware of the dangers of mixing acids and bases (alkaline products). The fumes can be toxic!

You are a patient man and achieved a good result. Great video thanks for sharing. I've just found on eBay a mortar repointing gun like a silicone cartridge gun. Might give one of those a try too.

Great job. There are mortar fix caulks out there but as a rule of thumb, replace what is missing with the original product. A flexible caulk isn’t mortar.

Thank you so much for the great tutorial !!! I power washed my brick last summer because of the mold overgrowth and I managed to blast off a lot of the mortar in the process !!! It’s been plaguing me and I know that I need to get this done so thank you very much !!! I’m going to use your method :)

It looks like a labor of love . I tapped my bricks off today. Power washed, used muric acid twice ( I still have a lot of white paint drips and darkened mold on one area of bricks . Maybe I’ll find a miracle cleaner at Home Depot tomm. And then I feel ready to go after watching your video. I love how meticulously you worked . It looks brand new !
I have some flag stone as well. Two of them white blotches in some areas from salts or lime scale . I know the imperfection will bother me . Maybe they have some type of stain that I could use as well.

I did this several years ago(10+) using Quikrete acrylic motar repair. Now all the stuff is peeling off the outside walls. It is a humongous task to remove the peeling off stuff and recaulk using a different motar repair. I don't know if I can physically go thru the process of recaulk all four exterior brick walls.

I wonder if you used a pastry bag or piping bag to dispense the mortar mix that it might give you a more precise controled shot at the crack you are filling without getting too much on the bricks?

Thank you for this informative video. I am planning on repointing an old internal brick wall, would you suggest mixing in some bondcrete to the mortar mix itself? And is rapidset necessary or can it be standard mortar mix?

The best way to clean the joints is with an air compressor for inside job or a pressure washer outside. You won't believe how well the air compressor dedusts the surface. No vacuum cleaner cleans the surface as well.
