what for me really helped is the knowledge that the more you do, the more energy you have to do more and the more happy you become. if you don't do much, you don't have much energy to do things, and you will become less satisfied, and that creates a vicious cycle if that makes sense. so the to get out of a lazy rut you simply need to do stuff. it can consist of social things, household chores or hobbies

Love your videos! That rant about lifestyle changes is so relatable! As a therapist, I always tell my clients (and remind myself!) to set small measurable goals. For example, if you want to eat better, start with something like “I’ll eat a healthy breakfast every day” and just focus on that. Once that becomes a habit, you add another thing. It’s a process girl but baby steps! And keep up with that self care 💕

hi kayli. you mentioned not being able to stick to working. Same for me. I had phases where I did yoga everyday but I never stuck to it in the long run. now I‘m doing it again ( actually because my therapist challenged me to 365 days of yoga) and I‘m only on the third week, but it‘s different this time. I actually really really enjoy it and I can‘t and won’t go to bed if I didn‘t do it. One reason is because I want to accomplish the challenge but also I just really love it. I‘m working on some inversions and they‘re super challenging but that‘s what keeps me going! Of course it still requires some kind of discipline to do it on the days I really don‘t want to, but having a goal (even a small one) makes it easier. And I know it’s super cliché, but stop comparing your progress to other people’s. Try to find sth that‘s fun for you and don‘t look at working out as a punishment for not being in shape or making up for the fast food you ordered. Do it for you and for your mental health. I’m sure it’s something you want. For me, it‘s so nice to see small improvements even as little as not being out breath when walking up the stairs to my therapists office ;) I think this approach might be something to think about. I really struggled with the same issues. And this is coming from someone who struggles with depression and anxiety as well. Love you and I believe in you. We can do this :) <3

Your comment about staying consistent with eating well and exercising is incredibly relatable--you're not alone! I'm a dietitian and I find with my clients the key is not to take an all-or-nothing approach. Slowly adding in healthy habits over time, rather than overhauling everything at once, makes them stick better in the long term. <3 <3

I’m only a couple minutes in and I can relate so much to everything you have said. I’ve been in a rut for 2 months and have likewise felt like nothing matters, every day is the same, etc. I often feel like I’m the only one around me dealing with mental health problems. I’m a lash tech and body waxer and turn to the same outlets you do to help make myself and others feel better. Sometimes self care/ expression are the only things that give me joy. Thank you for making me feel not so alone💚

I can totally relate to being good for a week and then it stops! I’ve struggled with that for a long time. I finally realized that it doesn’t come from motivation, but more of self consequence. It’s hard to always find the motivation to go to the gym or cook a meal at home. Change your mindset to more of a self consequence stand point — just get up do it without thinking extra about it, don’t think so much about the motivation side of it. Hold yourself accountable :)

About making actual change in your life that lasts- treat every day like it's the first day. That way, expectations of progress won't bring you down or demotivate you as much. I feel that so much dude. For example, when you want to work out and you start on day one, go to say two and three but then fail to show up on day four, you might say f it and give up. But in waking up every day and treating it like day one you're doing yourself a favor and giving yourself a lot of grace! Not sure if that made sense but I hope it helps :)
