Fedora 36: Here Are The Remarkable Top New Features

Fedora 36 Beta is about to hit us like a storm. One of the top new features - Gnome 42. Coming in hot with Libadwaita and GTK4, Gnome 42 stands out with a few cool new features, updated icons, and a brand new dark theme that looks amazing in my opinion. A stable, sleek, and fast distro, Fedora never fails to deliver, and is good enough reason why Linus Torvalds prefers it.

Check it out at the link below:
(This is the Beta version. I'll update it with the release version once it launches)

Here's the link to Fedora 36 KDE Spin:

One thing I like about Fedora is their app store. Sure they use the default gnome-software package for that. But when comparing all software stores in linux distros (manjaro, popos, ubuntu, elementary, zorin, fedora, yada yada yada...) my best experience would be with Fedora's gnome-software application. The app presentation and availbe software just looks professional and feels like a finished product, whereas everything else (well, maybe take out elementary here) looks unfinished or you stumble across nitpicks like duplicate software entries, software categories without any presentation but rather a lackluster A-to-Z sorting and just overall a very basic and/or bad experience. Fedora feels premium in its app store. Many good software, well presented, nice looking software categories, polish. Finally, the app store is one of the most important things in todays operating systems if you don't want to use the terminal that is.

You don't have to change it to X11 every time you log in. If you log in with X11, then every time you log in, it will be on X11.

Screen recording is available in Fedora 35: CTRL + ALT + "R" . Fedora 36 isn't the first time we've seen on screen recording.

Fedora is the top for sure. I remain in Manjaro because I have a lot of automation for configuring it and not planning to port it. One of the big negatives of Ansible is it's lack of platform/distro agnosticism built in.

The better use of top window bar is a huge improvement on screen real estate.

I don't see so many new features beside Appearance 😞 Folder colors are from Ubuntu adopted. Design is a little bit polished. That's it.

I really like Fedora 36, however, I have found it a tad inconsistent in its current form. There is still a mix of Adwaita and Libawaita going on, meaning that the interface is a bit of a mix-match at the moment. I hope they address this, even if it means they apply some theming to the apps still using Adwaita. Ironically, despite the Franken-Gnome that is going on with Ubuntu 22.04, the UI still looks quite consistent.

KDE was shockingly buggy at first but it got better. Gnome was something i just couldn't stand. It's not for me.

Fedora is amazing, but the best screen tool is the one on deepin.

Great video! Quick question: Does the kernel that comes with this update still have the Bluetooth bug? 😬

Wayland has come a long way? ProtonMail Bridge displays as a frame around a window of transparency - you can do anything with it. It is not close to being ready.

Yes! It's ok until you need to update it or install some new kernel! Extensions doesn't work at all!
For me nothing works. So I am back to Kubuntu
