I have played more than my fair share of beat saber, and I had to learn how to get good all on my own. These are all tips that helped me play some of the hardest songs available! (Stock or custom)

best tip of all, practice makes perfect, i wouldnt have gotten to be able to learn night raid with a dragon/rude buster/ and fresh VIP without the countless hours of practicing i did my first 100 hours

I respect the full arm swings and they are good with ost 1, 2, possibly 3 but from that point on the notes start getting faster and you should equally rely on your wrists to hit the extremely fast notes.

A lot of good tips. Some I'm already using without realizing. When I use practice mode I practice the same way I do when playing my instrument. Slow it down until you can do it right and slowly advancing until I get it up to speed. I also turned on advanced HUD so I can easily see the time so I can start a difficult area and repeat it until it's right, then increase speed and repeat it again until it's right. Diversifying songs is a tip that I underestimated myself but now I can really notice the benefit of it. Some new songs that have difficult parts that I think I'm gonna fail horribly I just know how to do it because I've done similar moves before.

I don't really agree with the no wrist flicking because that's how a lot of pros play and it also helps you play longer, what Id say is combine wrist with arm movements because then that's where you can get the full swing points easily, when playing really fast songs playing with full arm movement can be extremely tiring so just play how you feel comfortable

If you don’t like the first tip in this video you can also change the controller setting and the saber will position itself more forward

I can attest to the cardio benefits! I'm 53 with CAD. I play for an hour a day. In two and a half years I have the cardiopulmonary fitness of a 42 year old (Edit: 31) (according to PAI)! My doctor is thrilled. My muscles have definition.
These are just a few benefits. I could gush for hours. I cant recommend it enough.

I really appreciate these tips and you showing them “in real life” instead of just describing them verbally.

THANK YOU!!! Now I finally understand WHY I have such a terrible time trying to play Beat Saber on Oculus versus playing on my Index. I actually started on the Oculus (it's where I learned Beat Saber for the first time) and played BS on it for months before I was finally able to get an Index. The Index took some getting used to, but once I did, now I cannot go back to the Oculus. The same songs I can play on Expert/Expert+ and get an S on Index, I struggle to get an A on Oculus and sometimes even fail the level! I just can't seem to find my swing on the Oculus, and your explanation makes perfect sense! I did try claw grip and a few others on Oculus a while back but found them difficult to manage; maybe I'll try them again. I just do so much better on Index that I find it difficult to even waste time trying it on Oculus.

Wrists are better in my opinion. Wrists are better for speed and stamina. Arms are better foe acc. It’s really just personal preference. Although some people use switch between the two depending on what map they’re playing.

Tip for quest players, always charge your headset, and if you don't want to get the battery pack just get a portable battery charger cause it does the same thing, that's how I'm able to play for around 4+ hours at a time

If your talking about arms you havn't played the harder custom songs becuse you dont have time in them to swing arms and the wrist can be really accurate once you get the hang of it

I’ve completed 100 dollar bills on expert plus but I can’t even get past the start of some other expert plus levels, I feel that some of the levels are expert plus in their own way, 100 dollar bills on expert plus is hard because it plays at an average speed but many notes are thrown at you at the same time, while some other levels play at a fast speed but there are less notes. There are also levels that I feel are trying to confuse me about what to even hit.(like blue notes on the left side)

If you really want to do the hard songs, like 7 star and above, use your wrists, because at that point if your using your arms you will loose

I know this is a super old video, but I would die if I crouched and used my arms the whole time I played lol. Wrist flicking actually took my skills to an entirely new level. So Im not sure I agree on the full arm swing tip. For me, the claw grip, using my wrists, and fine tuning with saber tailor blew my mind. I had no idea how much of a drastic difference those changes would make in my performance and accuracy. Also, and alot of people dont talk about this, but the campaign in the game is a HUGE help. by the time I finished it I was so much better.

You don’t really have to move around or lean towards the blocks unless you are playing a custom song with extra lanes

I use my wrist straps as knuckle grips like on the HTC vive
