also worth adding that decibels are logarithmic not linear. So a 10db reduction is about is a drop of about 65% in sound pressure and halving how 'loud' something actually feels. Its also the difference between hearing loss/tinnitus and not.

12:51 Edwin, remember: Decibels are NOT a linar unit of measure, but work on a logarithmic scale. So even "small numbers" can actually reflect a larger perceived improvement. Also the human ear is not a measurement microphone (although the frequency response of this one might have been adjusted to more closely resemble the human ear). Higher frequencies (you mentioned "drone" before) are much more unpleasent to most humans. Hence why you can easily stand high sound pressure from bass frequencies but will whince at comparatively "quiet" high frequency noise. Just to get an idea: 10 decibels difference can be perceived as TWICE as loud. Under load you shortly exceeded 115dba, this kind of noise level can lead to lasting damage to your ears after just MINUTES. Compare that to the peak of merely 100 dba after the exhaust change, which will still make you fail TÜV if you get unlucky ^^ but should not be dangerous for you, especially as you will rarely sit behind your exhaust on the motorway. If nothing at all, you made an AMAZING investement in your long term health. Love this project. Keep it up!

@TwoDeadC The 'flat' brake disc retaining screw should be a little dowel screw that when you have the original wheels pokes through a little hole in the front rim, meaning that a garage can't accidentaly put the rears on the front or vice versa. Obviously having aftermarket wheels means you either replace it with another normal retaining screw or just grind it off like someone did here lmao

I had a Honda Beat with full Mugen kit, including some tuning bits (Mugen centre exit DTM style exhaust) it was a bloody brilliant car! Sadly no photos as I owned it in 1999 😂 god I’m old, if I ever found it I’d buy it back instantly.

I've actually seen this thing driving around in person with the old exhaust on and it was really loud. Honestly can't fault you for making it quieter. Since getting an MR2 I've come to understand how irritating a loud cabin is on long journeys. Keep up the build, I love these things!
