Fixing A Whirlpool/Kenmore Washer That Will Not Either Agitate Or Spin!

Video shows how to fix a whirlpool (WTW4816F) washer that is making a clicking noise and will not agitate. This video is applicable to most newer style Kenmore and Whirlpool washing machines that will either not agitate or spin. In the video I show how to replace the shift actuator/mode shifter to solve this problem! This video is part of my series "Free on Facebook" in which I repair, recycle, and repurpose things that would otherwise be destined for the landfill!

I owe you a big thank you for this! But I want to tell you what happened with me, it might help someone else out. My Whirlpool was spinning but not agitating, after your video I ordered a shift actuator- BUT I got a knock off brand, put it in and the washer STILL didn't work. I was really pulling my hair out, because it really seemed like the problem was the shift actuator, but it still didn't work with a new part?! finally called an appliance guy [for a mere $140] and he said the problem WAS the new part; the specs were off just enough to cause a problem. Long story less long, I got the part from Maytag, put it in and BOOYAH! Success. Also- Maytag redesigned it so it looks different from the original [mine was the rust colored one]. There is an extra compartment where the wire hub gets connected. For whatever that's worth.
Thanks again for posting, and maybe my aggravation could spare someone else.

Couldn’t figure out why my clothes just didn’t smell and look as clean and this was the issue, except the arm wasn’t broken the rod somehow was not in the hook part. Thanks for the video 👍🏼
