How to Fix Steam Games Not Being Detected (No Extra Hard Drive Space Needed)

Just showing what worked for me when it comes to Existing Steam Games not showing as "installed" on Steam. This method doesn't require extra hard drive space to work.

To you guys that don't have the appmanifest file, you can download a copy of it here:
(100% safe link from my own g.drive)

Don't forget to update the file name to "appmanifest_(whatever the appid of your game).acf"
Open the file with Notepad and update all of the things with "<--Edit This"

Make sure it's in "steamapps" folder.

Yes, we need to make a copy of appmanifest for the game, but the important thing is that you put StateFlags as 4, which the ready to play state. When steam restarts its change to 6 which is validating state.

unfortauntely this didn't work for me because I already had all the .acf files in there for each game but it was still not appearing. i also tried adding my steam library in my external hard drive but the problem is my drive doesn't even show up as a drive option in steam to add.

Thx man worked a treat the second time, turns out that I already had the .acf for the game that I needed fixed it was just bugged. After deleting both mine and the bugged one, and then redoing all the steps as you showed it worked. good job bob.

I got a question. So i just check my profile, and there is something off with it. When i check my "Games" it just show the number of the games i owned. But that's not the problem, the problem is i got 25 games, while it just showed 11 games as a number (i still not clicked the "Games" yet) . But when i clicked on Games, its still show my 25 games. What should i do?

Hi Andro, I have a similar problem. My steam games is refusing to download, it downloads until a certain point, for example 10 gigs but then fails. The reason it fails is because steam somehow makes my external hard drive disconnect. Then I have to eject and plug it into a different usb port. And if I try to continue the download it starts all over again and the fails at a certain point again. Every time the same thing.

At first I thought it was my external hard drive beginning to give in. But I tried downloading games from EPIC games to the same external hard drive. And it works perfectly fine. Please help…
