I tried this technique and it works great! Just be sure your socket fits tightly on the extension. You don't want a red hot socket slipping off the extension and landing on your new carpet. Ask me how I know!

Tried this after seen this video when I made new carpets for my MG130 and it worked great ! I used an induction heater instead of a burner with perfect result

Gonna be installing new carpet in my 1966 chevelle, this definitely is a much better idea then cutting a X and getting fluff and stuff everywhere! Eager to try this

Use a soldering iron, makes perfect size hole, no flame, no nail, no hot extension or socket to hold. Perfect size, place in holder when not in use.

Electrical Metal Tubing (EMT), makes a very good burner. Use pieces about a foot long and wrap one end with a good rag.
