no mention of Marvel Rivals? It's competetive. Works perfectly and Linux is even actively being mentioned in patch notes, like they actually recognize us as valid users.

I never believed in client side anti-cheat. There is nothing preventing cheaters from building robots that use keyboard/mouse... or programming an arduino to generate usb HID events combined with an HDMI capture card and a laptop. The trackmania community has shown time and time again if you have the input events the cheating becomes obvious. Of the times they could have gone left or right how many times did they pick the correct direction, see through walls detected. Aim bots are even easier to spot, as the mouse jumps around unnaturally.

Server side anticheat is the only way. The Finals and Valve are spending lots of money to further this development. Client side anti cheat has proven to be a utter failure.

Fun Fact about FaceIT - they have Linux AC support for Battlebit - but they do not want to do it for CS for some damn reason...

Forcing the end user to install invasive and unwanted software on their PC should be done away with. It implies everyone is a cheater.
It should be the responsibility of the company to do something on their end to stop cheating, and methods that don’t require compromising our machines.

"Dota 2 is no league of legends" is either a great compliment or a massive backhand. LoL players come play dota, it's the misery you love but all the heroes are unlocked, every move you make is still wrong and you're still a noob. Such fun.

The fact that the gaming community ever accepted anti-cheat malware as normal and morally acceptable is a disaster.

Linux Servers could be a nice transition solution, but should not become de-facto standard, as isolation of players isn't great in the long run.

I play tons of games, but if a game doesn't want my business then I'm fine with that.

Thanks for continually making high quality videos for the Linux community and especially helping beginners understand Linux more.

Even though we are the minority of users, I don't understand why companies would exclude any percentage of their potential players.

Honestly, and I know this is kind of extreme and ultimately not suggesting it happen, but Valve could mandate that if a dev wants their game on steam, they need to make it available to play on as many platforms as possible. For the most part devs dont have anything to do. Proton works. However, this might help push devs to have, at a minimum, a linux server for their games.

The problem with proposed solution is that some developers don't use anti-cheat only as anti-cheat. They also use it as reverse engineering prevention tech.

If you can run a game without an anticheat, it allows you to study it's inner workings better. And this can be helpful for creating cheats, that will actually bypass full anticheat solution.

Game servers specifically made for Linux would be awesome. Thank you for making these videos and giving attention to these kind of things by the way your content really inspired me on a lot of things Linux related and such. Thank you very much for making these videos keep it up.

my solution: don't play games which want kernel rights on your PC. Its a serious security and privacy issues if games can do everything on your PC. I think it's perfect already. Games like that, just shouldn't be played.

Fragpunk just dropped and it runs great on Linux. It's very similar to valorant.

every anticheat NEEDS to have support for linux tbh

People who use Linux don't spend money -> we abandon Linux gaming -> Linux users don't play our games -> people who use Linux don't spend money.

Anti-cheats dont work anyways, they can be broken. Its better if you let the USERS block people, not have someone else control it.

Not only is ANY level of Linux anti-cheat support better none, I feel as though, since Windows 10 is EOL, soon, and Windows 11 is a bloated POS that a lot of people hate, there's a non-zero chance that a sizable number of gamers will either install Linux, as an alternative to Windows or even BUY a Linux gaming PC, as SteamDeck is making that more and more of a thing! ALSO: Kernel Level Anti-Cheat isn't even a good idea in Windows!
