What's Your experience with cheaters in CS2?

Check Out CSGOBIG with Code "PythonCS"

When a match says VAC has detected irregular gameplay that doesn’t mean it’s detected cheat software just that something about a persons gameplay seems suspicious, I got a cooldown for irregular gameplay with no cheat software running and I would’ve been pretty pissed if they would’ve given me a VAC ban for it

It would be funny to make cheaters do zero damage and take five times more damage if detected with cheats, and also they get flashed every five seconds too

Need to verify the anti cheat didnt pop for no reason too

The issue is simple, they don't detect shit. If you shoot too many people through walls, your Mirco adjustments are too fast and your getting too many kills your getting banned. This is a system that could potentially ban legit players. The Carnage false bans in a game with skins that cost more then some people's house is kind of a big issue.

As some commenters have said (thanks for informing us, much love <3) VAC system checks for irregular gameplay, which is a problem and could lead to false positives. Better idea would be to check for memory modifications that allow walls, aim, etc. Would work for the cheapest cheats.

When someone queues up with a cheater (intentionally or not), there was a possibility that they'd get banned too, but not entirely sure on that.

Kernel AC's wouldn't really work because of privacy concerns. However, if someone has fat stacks, they could get away with cheating.

Instantly banning cheaters would let the devs fix their cheats up, so Valve Allows cheating to make devs confused on what feature is detected.

This has been talked about many times and it’s fairly simple.

Valve doesn’t want false positive bans. The cooldown is placed into effect with NO human interaction, which means it’s a purely computer based detective system. That leaves plenty room for false detections. Valve would much rather hit someone with a cooldown (which usually are fairly long for VAC), and have them enter a smaller pool of players that may be overwatched and hand out a game ban through overwatch, then have a system they’re still developing potentially ban someone outright falsely, and have to revert that.

I wouldn’t think valve would actually do anything meaningful for this considering the whole TF2 thing.

Because an AI system will inadvertently predict false positives and getting one innocent person permanently banned is worse than having 10 cheaters play

That's probably because the guy was caught by VACNet, and Valve doesn't trust VACNet to give out perma bans. Cases like that get a timed ban and are further reviewed to determine if a perma ban is needed. (that's mostly speculation, as we all know Valve doesn't really talk about how VAC works, and they shouldn't)

"Wish they would fix the anti-cheat, ANYWAYS KEEP GIVING VALVE AND ME MORE MONEY WITH SKINS!" ffs man...

Imagine making a bind in your cfg that does a 180 and then you get randomly Vacced for, quote-on-quote, "Cheating".

This is like the minor disruptive OW ban you could receive in csgo

Cheaters should only be allowed to play in the same lobby as other people who have had cheats detected!!!

My theory's that its learning from every detection it does and it's improving to not falsely ban an innocent person so as long as it's not extremely accurate a Cooldown is the safest way of dealing with it without risking banning innocent people

Real VAC live footage is already crazy but no ban is insane 😭

Some platforms do perma bans in waves so hackers dont know exactly what triggered the cheat detection system

VACLive is obviously in development. Handing out permanent bans is a horrible idea for something that’s in a testing phase. If a player wrongfully gets detected, which has happened to people accidentally setting a high dpi or people on low end pcs switching their resolution-it’d be very unfair for these players. To avoid that people are not gonna play the game, because they’re scared for a false ban, they implemented temporary cooldowns.

For that the anticheat or ai is probably still in a learning stage.. after this they will probably bump it up to a cooldown and the staff will get notified to see if it’s false or not.

Valve loves their data. They're probably farming data from how cheaters play. I like to think that once you've been given a cooldown, they start analyzing your games afterwards.
