Do bodybuilding genetics matter? Yes, genetics definitely play a key role in the muscle building process just like they do in all areas of life. However, unless you're in the very bottom percentile, anyone can build muscle, lose fat, gain strength and build a lean muscular body with enough time and effort. There will be differences in terms of how fast you can gain muscle and what your "physique aesthetics" are, but with the right workout and diet plan in place you can certainly achieve impressive muscle growth and fat loss.

I didn't know you would make use of the shorts formula so well in terms of education and entertainment. Kudos, Sean!

As someone who was literally born underweight, I see bad genetics as just another barrier to overcome. I'd rather exercise hard and gain a little muscle than not exercise at all and gain no muscle.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Look, there's no question that genetics play a significant role in the muscle building process. (Just like they do in pretty much every area of life)⁣

Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is either trying to sell you something or just doesn't know any better.⁣

Depending on a wide variety of factors, different people will build muscle at varying rates, have higher or lower potential in terms of naturally achievable lifetime gains, and have different "aesthetics" depending on their bone structure and muscle shape/insertions.⁣

However, unless you're an outlier on the extreme lower end of the genetics bell curve or have a legitimate health condition that prevents you from building muscle effectively, anyone out there can make significant gains and achieve what would be considered an "impressive physique" given enough time and effort.⁣

So many people out there just don't want to put in the work and then pull the "genetics card" as an excuse to justify their lack of consistency.⁣

Or, they do commit to a program consistently over a reasonable time period, but one or more key aspects of that plan isn't being properly structured/executed and so the results never show up.⁣

It isn't their genetics or some other factor beyond their control that is preventing them from seeing progress - they just haven't taken the time to do the proper research and to adjust/tweak their approach in order to get onto the right track.⁣

In any case, the bottom line is that "genetics" are not a valid excuse for why someone can’t put on muscle or lose fat.⁣

Get a proper program in place, adjust things as you go depending on the results you’re getting (or not getting), be patient and consistent, and good things will happen if you just give it enough time.⁣

A guy with bad genetics who works out and has a solid diet will look infinitely better than a guy with good genetics who doesn't do the same thing.

Genetics aren't an excuse to not being able to grow muscle unless you have a disease, but it is a reality that to be elite at anything it is a factor.

People training with more than 5 reps in reserve, training with a bro split, getting drunk every weekend, not tracking protein intake for at least .5gr per pound of BW, sleeping 4 hours a day: *I have bad genetics bro thats why I quitted*

I'm 5'4" and this doesn't stops me from training!
I know it'll be a lot better if I was 5'8 or 9,
But still, it's OK ❤️❤️

The problem is how subjective everybodies view of what "solid gains" is. If you're just a guy who wants abs or slightly above average biceps sure anyone can make solid gains. But if you want to be a pro bodybuilder mass monster genetics will be a serious limiting factor. Even with within the best discipline, routine, diet and gear some people will never be able to pack on mass as well as others can.

I can see how it can be frustrating for some people though in all honesty. I know people who train hard and they really don't get as good of results as you would think

facts its just like any sport, genetics really only play a factor at the highest elite level, just hard work and enough time will get you as good as 95% of the people you’ll ever meet in real life

Man I got scoliosis, duck feet, pelvic tilt, tilted hips, arms that are not straight, bad muscle genetics, small and a high metabolism (im trying to bulk). I may be very disappointed, but I’m not gonna let all of this get in the way of my gainz and goals 😈💪

I used to blame genetics because of me being overweight. Then I lost 30 pounds in like 2-3 months. It’s mad how many people blame genetics for their laziness

Lol this is the only fitness person on social media I fuck with. Super legit and saved my workouts. Don't have anyone to work with, so taught self and seeing the correct form for lifting made me gain so much more
