Matthew Hayden briefly held the record after scoring 380 v Zimbabwe in 2003 but Brian Lara regained the record scoring 400 a year later.

Millions of criket fans around the world were taken aback by such a scintilating knock. I was in 10th standard and heard the news on DD news. Lara not out 320 scored 13th tripple hundred in history of world cricket.
We did not have the luxury of internet and other channels where we could witness the historical knock.
Then began my wrestling with my radio for searching BBC world service. Finally, i mannaged to hear in a sinking femail voice from London "Brine Lara has created a world record in test cricket 375 surpassing Garry Sober's 365 he scored 1957 against Pakistan."
I swiched off my radio and shared the news with my father. That obsession with cricket was unfathomable. We, the crazy cricket maniac friends were constantly engaged in collecting informations of that historical knock.
