Later Rashidun Caliphate, Umayyad dynasty, and Abbasid dynasty ruled over Afghanistan. During this period, Islam was introduced to the residents of Afghanistan. Later under the Ghaznavid Empire and Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi, the Afghans became a great power.
