No Tokens Required (Mark 10:2-16)

Показать описание
The Presbyterian Church once had a process of issuing "communion tokens" to those deemed to have sufficient understanding of the sacrament. The church elders who made such judgments likely sometimes excluded folks they deemed morally insufficient as well. And children couldn't receive the Lord's Supper until they made their professions of faith. Yet Jesus says the kingdom belongs to such as these. Strange that Mark's gospel puts Jesus' teaching on marriage adjacent to those on children. In fact, teachings on children and the kingdom appear on either side of the marriage teachings. I wonder how often we've misunderstood the marriage teachings because we've not gotten the children part right.
