With the joy of India’s independence came the sorrow of Partition. Countless families lost their homes, thousands of lives were taken away, even today people carry the grief of their lost ones.
It was not a mere division of boundaries, it caused havoc to lives and livelihood of people of that era. In a blink of eye, Land owners became refugees, wealth turned to poverty, children were left orphans.

But why did it really happen. A country which is known for its unity in diversity, how did a part of it got separated. Despite sharing a common struggle against the British, what caused this horrible division. Lets discuss.

Its ironic to see that more than 90% Muslims voted Muslim League indirectly supporting the creation of separate Islamic nation but after partition around 50% stayed in India inspite of being given 2 separate countries. Maybe to make India another Islamic Republic. Their loyalty always lies with their faith and not the country. Even after partition Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and BR Ambedkar also criticised Muslims who stayed back in India.
