Honoring a true pioneer of music, we are proud to introduce the Mary Ford Les Paul Standard.

Mary, alongside her husband Les Paul, revolutionized modern music. Her groundbreaking work in the 1950s not only defined a new sound but also helped shape the future of recording. As one of the most popular duos of their time, they sold over six million records in 1951 alone, and between 1950 and 1954, they recorded a string of 16 top-ten hits. These hits showcased Mary’s rich, smooth voice and complex, perfectly executed harmonies, which she sang along with herself through multitrack recording and overdubbing—a brand new technique that changed the way music was made. As a guitarist and singer, her mastery of versatile guitar playing that seamlessly blended country, jazz, and pop, combined with her innovative use of sound-on-sound recording, set a new standard for what was possible in the studio.

In 1958, Gibson made precisely one original Mary Ford signature Les Paul Goldtop model for her, complete with an ES-295-style cream pickguard with gold floral art and a matching floral art armrest. Now, we are proud to release the Mary Ford Les Paul Standard, based on that one-of-a-kind original.

Gibson’s educational tribute to Mary Ford, featuring Emily Wolfe, takes viewers on a journey of Mary’s monumental impact on music.

Mary 100% deserves the recognition but idk if this does her justice. Isn’t it fairly well known that Mary preferred the SG shape due to it being lighter? Plus it makes more sense for it to have p90’s or something like 57 classics or custombuckers. The BB3 feel a little too modern. Regardless, it is a pretty guitar.

A lot of knocking the guitar in these comments, just want to say great playing by Emily. Could listen to her do a tribute album.

P90’s…anyone? Mary’s LP had P90’s, no? I had one done, an R6 with adapted 295 plastics by CRocker…

Mary used many of Lesters guitars as her own guitars when performing and things like that, I do think that she got a few guitars with her when she moved out from Lester, only one of them to be known and can be seen at Pawn Stars, I know she also got a couple of Les Paul shaped Gibson´s but I have no idea where those guitars are now. I do believe that Mary would love this new signature guitar, I really like the music they made and the tv show, many people don't know how big Les and Mary really was, I mean they made quite a bit of money and fame.. :D

Gibson, you must take a break, please. My bank account can't keep up with all these fabulous instruments you are putting out.

This is what you came up with as a Mary Ford signature guitar? It’s just a gold top with a patterned arm rest and pickguard. And, why no P90’s? Mary deserves better than this.
