Hold the line... Rick’s guitar knowledge isn’t always on time.

As a guitar lover I am so glad he kept this guitar. He knew it had value that others may not see or appreciate.

"If you don't know what you're doing, you can buy a 1969 Les Paul, and think you bought a 1962 Les Paul". You'd have to *really* not know what you were doing, because the only "Les Paul" guitars in 1962 had the SG body shape.

I'm no expert, but even I could tell that was a 70s model telecaster.

Don't sell your guitar for $3 grand man. You've poured too much heart and soul into her. I'm glad you kept her.

"It's really hard to date these things". No, they are not.

I refuse to believe that a professional musician, who played this guitar for years and encountered other professional musicians and probably guitar techs also didnt know this wasnt a 1960. How would have someone never corrected him?

So we're just gonna ignore the fact that he toured with Africa by Toto??

Good move on the guitarist's part. Unless it's destroyed, NEVER part with a vintage Les Paul for less than a brand new one goes for. If he put it up, he could easily get $5000 for it just on his name/history alone and where it's been. So, VERY smart move to walk away with the Les Paul in hand.

The owner seems like a really nice guy. I'm surprised there wasn't a value bump since it was used on an actual rock tour by Toto.
