I signed up for a beginners sewing class about 8 weeks ago and I’ve been researching on YouTube. I really like your videos. My first make was pj bottoms, then Tilly and the Buttons Stevie top, followed by the Ogden Cami and I’m now tackling TATB’s Indigo Top. All made in cotton fabrics. I have a remnant of viscose challis to play with to extend my learning. Your advise is spot on as I had a few years ago made curtains and cushions. I’m loving clothes making, it is so rewarding.

This is the best video I’ve seen about starting to sew, I’ve been sewing for years but still learning , if your video doesn’t give folks the inspiration to start I don’t know what will ? Really interesting, I didn’t need this video but ended up watch it all . Love your vlogs anyway WELL DONE 😘👍👍👍

I am really looking forward to this new series Sally.I have had my sewing machine for ages and have just barely had it out of the box.I am currently sewing up a charm pack really to practice non wobbly seams.I am a returning sewer but was never that brilliant to start with! so I’m really looking forward to giving myself the opportunity to grow my skills.Thank-you so much for sharing your own skills and knowledge so generously.

Great video! I think it's great that you emphasised practice, no one is good at sewing on the first go. An elastic waist skirt is also another good first garment project. Sometimes the geometry of pants can be a bit confusing lol.

Be careful with cheap machines, they can give up before you do
