2021 iPad Mini Review

The 2021 iPad Mini 6, Apple’s smallest tablet, is easy on the hands, but not as easy on the wallet as the previous generation. That said, it offers a great deal of improvements and upgrades over older Mini models, as Apple realizes folks buy the Mini for its smaller size rather than small price. The iPadOS 15 tablet has a larger 8.3” IPS Liquid Retina display while having a smaller footprint than the outgoing model. It has the same Apple A15 CPU as the iPhone 13 family of phones, and is available in two storage capacities. 5G cellular is optional, Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5 is standard and Touch ID is now embedded in the power button on the side rather than taking up vast real estate on the front bezel.

I think if they had 128gb of storage the price would actually be quite a deal. But having both the design and power improvements, I think you can still justify it

I don't need one right now but I really hope this sells well, smaller and compact tablets still need to be around since every other tablet now is like a Laptop-Replacement. Had the old Mini 5 and loved reading books, comics/manga on it since the display's PPI was higher than other tablet at the time. Words and Pictures just look so damn crisp on smaller high resolution screens.

Can’t wait for mine to arrive next week… the minis have been my favorite line for a while. I have a 10.9 in iPad Pro too but find myself using the mini mostly for leisure and my desktop for work.

Thank god for stereo speakers too, that was the most annoying thing the previous ones lacked. Pretty sure I’ll never need to buy a full sized iPad again.

Funny Lisa mentioned the Nexus 7. I still run two of those gen two version at home for media control. One is till running Android 6 & the other I just installed Android 11 (Lineage 18.1). Still one of the best small tablet in my opinion. Speaking of Nexus 7, Lisa is till using the same Ernie boat toy for picture test that she used for the Nexus 7 review almost a decade ago. 🙂

I use my mini for travel. It's light, small and does everything. I upgraded from my Version 4 to the new model ... because. Seamless transfer. Love it.

I loved my Nexus 7! And I’m an Apple guy. Bought the Nexus for $190, used it a few years and sold it for the same amount. It’s light weight and nice speakers got me through surgery recovery.

I had the OG mini then my hubby bought me a Samsung Galaxy, I hardly used it but definitely missed a tablet. When this was introduced I didn’t even look at YouTube reviews, just did a blind buy and it’s been worth every cent
