The Lost Gospel Where Judas Was The Good Guy | Gospel of Judas

For generations, the biblical character Judas Iscariot has been framed as the incarnation of evil - a figure who has been universally detested amongst believers. Judas’ reputation as a betrayer has cemented him in the minds of many as one of the worst people to have ever existed (or to have ever been created in literature). In Dante’s Inferno for example, Judas even has his own special place in the third lowest circle of hell, where he is placed head first into the maw of Satan, with his back continuously skinned by the devil’s claws. Ironically, this isn’t the only time Judas and Satan get this close, for it is in the bible we see Judas condemned by all four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and explicitly mentioned as the one who betrayed Jesus and the one who sold him out. Some are even convinced that Judas was so wicked in these acts, that he must’ve been working in tandem with Satan.

I think a truly evil man doesn't commit suicide because he's so weighed down with guilt and shame!!! And he certainly wouldn't try to give back all that money!!

I always believe there is two sides to every story. I am genuinely curious what was he thinking to be part of this whole prophecy for Jesus to die. It must be traumatic. Especially knowing you’ll most definitely be hated. How can anyone live with that.

A small detail you mentioned I'd like to give you respect for. That you mentioned coptics, its not every day I hear of people who know of them and its very much appreciated

The word Dæmon is what became the word Demon in Modern English. It generally is used to describe what are also called household gods (Hecate goddess of the crossroads, witches, and the hearth. The major gods being those of water, fire, death, the sun, the hunt, and agricultire.

I have read the Gospel of Judas. It makes sense considering the Holy Bible has been messed with so much, with the church misinterpreting and leaving out, adding whatever they wanted.

I never thought of Judas as an evil person. Sure he was a traitor but it was God's plan. Without him, Jesus would not have been crucified and thus, we would not have been saved.

Excellent content and your descriptions on the gnostic beliefs.. as you pointed out, some definitions of word origins, are open to interpretation..🤔

Remember, only the most popular books made it into cannon. The modern bible you have wasn't put together as it is 2000+ years ago or anywhere near the time of the events.

Judas was the most important person next to Jesus because people are forgetting that Jesus came to die and it was Judas who had to betray him

The New Testament warns people not to judge Judas. It’s not for humans to make judgments on Judas- only God can do this. Nor are humans allowed to curse or condemn Judas. This is fascinating

I like the creation story of this gospel much more than that of Genesis. Not only is it more (spiritually) fleshed-out, but it also puts the Tree of Knowledge into proper context. It was a test by the one true god to see whether they would blindly follow or knowingly follow.

If they blindly followed, then they may have been succeptable to the other false gods (as they were shown to be to the serpent). Only through doubt and reason could they decern which among them was the one true god.

The Gospel of Judas is a non-canonical Gnostic gospel. The content consists of conversations between Jesus and Judas Iscariot. Given that it includes late 2nd-century theology, it is widely thought to have been composed in the 2nd century (prior to 180 AD) by Gnostic Christians, rather than the historic Judas himself.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any more insane.

Just my opinion, but if Jesus was sent as the ultimate sacrifice to cleanse humanity of original sin, the more obvious sin of judas was the shame and lack of repentance to Jesus on the cross out of fear from the backlash of the others who were at the cross. This seems to be more of an issue than a betrayal, which seemed more like a necessary evil. At the same time, judas's response to his realization of what he had done in his portrayal could be viewed as more of a sobering moment of him realizing that even one of the twelve apostles could be a host of Satan/ Lucifer. Similar to how a drunk sobering up realizes what they did the morning after.

I am trying to figure out how you are not under the law, but there are still cops, courts, and law with a Bible in the courtrooms you are not under
