My most frequently asked question is how do I know when my avocado is ready to eat. In this video I answer that question and make some suggestions how to aid the ripening process. I also tell you what not to do and offer a way to eat your avocado and minimizing growing.

Тhank you so much for uploading such a breathtaking and productive video! I just want to say that I love your videos. The world needs more people like you! Spreading happiness, cracking jokes at times and teaching us in the most captivating way!
So, after putting my avocados out on the balcony when it's calm and sunny in the morning and putting them in every night, they started wilting slightly, nothing too concerning since I'd expected that this would've happened. My oldest avocado, which is 25 months old, had been battling slow and mild, but rather concerning root rot, accompanied by maybe a small amount of fungus gnats (but ever since I removed the wood chips and dead leaves, they've kind of stopped spreading). Especially in February, a month after I repotted it, it started yellowing, dropping its leaves, I think I could even smell a bit of a foul smell. My beloved avocado tree hit rock bottom, it was dealing with so much- root rot, transplant shock, changes of soil, fungus gnats, cold shock and the mix had so much perlite, but it eventually recovered, but this root rot, it's nothing compared to before, but the brown tips of the older leaves constantly get bigges. And so essentially, the other day, I used a fungicide to water my avos, but I did wait for them to start drooping or showing signs of insufficient water, so that I could water them more. I did that, but tried not to pour the solution too near or too much below the trunk, but also not too far like to the edges. Some of the avocados started wilting more.
I think the reasons are: fungicide, wind gusts (who probably briefly peaked at 20 mph) and temperature fluctuations. However I still think they'd acclimate and recover. And also my oldest avocado is the wiltiest one, but still growing pretty much like prior. If they look way too stressed out, I'll put them back inside and maybe wait till next spring. Do you think they'd recover or look more energetic?

Yes! I love your vids so much. I have a few other apple trees, 2 of which didn't make it from the 149, 77 km/hour winds a few months ago. But thank you for your info!

Hey! It's so nice to watch these videos after the past couple of years that have gone by. We have recently moved into a house that has a very old avocado tree on the property. I'm not sure what type of avocado it is but from the previous owners, they said they planted it in 1965, and ever since it has been in the same spot. Just recently tried the avocados and they are pretty good, although they are more of on the smaller side. It's been fun to see your channel grow!

When I see you avocados I get jealous. Wish these varieties were in jamaica. They look so delicious. I hope in the future the government will allow other varieties to come in the country. Love your video. Keep up the great work. Blessings.
